Course Outline

Effective and positive classroom management is the cornerstone of every classroom. Teachers who feel confident to engage and focus students will achieve higher learning outcomes. Classroom management strategies are paramount for students to learn in a respectful, safe, and caring environment. Classroom discipline can be a stressful component of a teacher’s work life. Therefore, this course provides knowledge and understanding of the reasons behind challenging behaviours and a toolbox of practical, everyday ideas for good classroom management and for transforming classroom behaviours in an effective manner. All teachers require positive strategies to manage classroom disruptions and inappropriate classroom behaviours for the optimum learning of all students, and for their own professional development and career satisfaction.

Completing Positive Discipline: Effective and Caring Behavioural Management will contribute 5.5 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing 3.5.2, 4.1.2, 4.2.2, 4.3.2, and 7.3.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
