Course Information
Effective and positive classroom management is the cornerstone of every classroom. Teachers who feel confident to engage and focus students will achieve higher learning outcomes. Classroom management strategies are paramount for students to learn in a respectful, safe, and caring environment. Classroom discipline can be a stressful component of a teacher’s work life. Therefore, this course provides knowledge and understanding of the reasons behind challenging behaviours and a toolbox of practical, everyday ideas for good classroom management and for transforming classroom behaviours in an effective manner. All teachers require positive strategies to manage classroom disruptions and inappropriate classroom behaviours for the optimum learning of all students, and for their own professional development and career satisfaction.
Course Summary
During this course, participants will gain practical skills and classroom management strategies for developing their own effective and positive classroom discipline system. They will learn how to strengthen teacher and student relationships, create positive classroom routines, teach appropriate social and emotional skills to students, and to transform everyday classroom behaviours in a respectful and caring manner. They will have opportunities to ask specific questions for their own understanding and learning, and practical classroom experiences. The aim is for participants to leave feeling more inspired, confident and ready to provide a learning environment for all students, within a framework of positive classroom discipline and management, so that all students can learn in an optimal, safe and respected environment.
