This course is for Parents, Carers and aspiring EC Teachers

In this course we explore Anthroposophy, Life Phases, Child Development and experience artistic activities and Craft. This is a very balanced curriculum of philosophy and creative activities which provide a comprehensive foundation for developing understanding of Rudolf Steiner’s teachings.

Focussed early childhood aspects include the importance of Play for the child, Storytelling and our own Inner Development. Artistic elements involve water-colour painting, clay modelling and eurythmy (no experience necessary).

Why study at Sydney Rudolf Steiner College?

Sydney Rudolf Steiner College has been preparing Teachers for careers in Steiner education for over 30 years as well as integrated and inspiring studies for parents and carers into Rudolf Steiner’s teachings.

Our courses are well established and guided by a staff of highly experienced and respected tutors. We offer flexibility in our delivery, the opportunity to engage with the content and receive a thorough grounding in the foundations of Rudolf Steiner education. In addition, our programs support the transition from mainstream into Steiner education and we offer Professional Development within Steiner Education through NESA. Our courses are recognized both in Australia (SEA and SECA) and internationally (IASWECE).

What our students say

“I certainly felt very welcome, very included, very valued, part of a group, mentored, and have been given appropriate feedback- all in the sense of belonging” KS

“I am finding my studies personally enriching, and therefore the time spent on tasks is like a gift to myself. I have been encouraged in artistic strengths of which I was unaware, and feel that I am being prepared in a holistic and nurturing way toward my chosen career of teaching in a Rudolf Steiner school” SA

Career Path and Employment

Our Steiner Early Childhood courses are acknowledged by IASWECE (International Association of Steiner Waldorf Early Childhood Education) and endorsed by Steiner Education Australia (SEA).

Employment prospects both here and internationally are excellent for our students.

  • Successful completion of the Foundation course will qualify teachers to work as Assistants in early childhood settings.
  • Successful completion of both the Foundation and Certificate courses qualify the SRSC student to be Lead Teacher in early childhood settings.

At present there are over 40 Steiner Schools (including State schools with Steiner Streams) in Australia requiring on average 2 or more new Steiner Teachers each year.  There are currently over 1,100 Steiner schools worldwide in 64 different countries, and nearly 2,000 Early Years settings in more than 70 countries and the demand for trained Steiner educators is ever increasing.
