Course Outline

This course aims to inform participants of the stages of child development from toddlers to teenagers. What changes occur including physical, emotional, social, and cognitive transformations at key stages. What do students require to truly flourish? Participants will gain many practical examples of why the Waldorf curriculum is developed to specifically meet the needs, capabilities and experiences of students at each stage of their educational journey.

About Our Tutor

Lou Harvey-Zahra is a Rudolf Steiner, Primary and Special Needs trained teacher with 25 years’ experience. She is an international presenter to teachers and parents in over 40 Steiner-Waldorf schools across Australia, UK and LA. Lou is a published author with 4 books with the Steiner-Waldorf Publisher, Floris Books.

She is one of the founding members of a Steiner kindergarten and a Steiner curriculum in a government school in Melbourne. This school has achieved a Steiner-inspired curriculum for the past 18 years, providing an alternate education to hundreds of families each year. Lou is the founder of the Saturday Club for families with children with Autism, which receives government funding and a building and has operated for 21 years.

Lou has been a keynote speaker for teachers and professionals at the World Autism Conference, at the annual Maternal Childcare Conference, and for the Waldorf Institute of Southern California Teacher Training Program. She has been a presenter for Sydney Rudolf Steiner College, highlighting Positive Classroom Discipline for the past five years.

Lou brings a passion and enthusiasm to facilitating teacher-training and equipping teachers for a fulfilling classroom experience.
